A large banking organisation is installing a network of automated teller machines (ATMs) for use by its customers in a large town. These machines are installed in an exterior wall of the bank and allow customers to withdraw cash from their accounts. A number of major activities that have to be completed have been identified, along with estimates of the duration of each activity and the normal cost of each activity. Crash times and costs have also been estimated. The relevant information is shown in Table 13.12.
(a) Construct a network diagram using this information.
(b) Determine the critical path.
(c) Determine the expected normal completion time for the project.
(d) The bank has decided that in terms of increased customer satisfaction and new accounts it is worth up to £1000 a week to reduce the completion time of the project. Determine by how many weeks it would be cost-effective to reduce the completion date.
