response to Todd Riley

Please read through the following problem-based scenario about a credit card company manager who receives an application for a credit card from Todd Riley, who is not old enough to apply for a credit card without a cosigner.

Then write a short response to Todd as the scenario describes.  Your response should be about 150-200 words in length.

This might be considered a conventional “bad news” situation.  Nonetheless, consider whether you are really giving Todd bad news.  He can, after all, get a credit card if he takes some extra steps.

In addition, please respond to at least one other student’s post in this discussion thread.  In your response to a fellow student, comment on the organization, word choice, tone, or whatever else you feel is appropriate.  Please draw upon the Jameson article in your response to your fellow student.  Your response to the other student can be two or three sentences.

Problem-Based Scenario

You are the credit manager for FlashExpress, a growing credit card company, and your department receives hundreds of applications for credit cards each month.  Frequently, you receive credit card applications from individuals under the legal age who are applying for a credit card. Legal regulations prohibit you from issuing a credit card to underage applicants unless a parent or other guarantor cosigns with them. If the minor does not pay, then the guarantor becomes responsible for the account. In addition to requiring a guarantor, FlashExpress requires underage applicants to fill out an additional supplemental form.

In your role as credit manager, write a letter to Todd Riley, a 17-year-old underage applicant, responding to his request for a credit card. Consider your audience, the context, and the purpose of your letter. Your letter should explain that you have enclosed a necessary supplemental form, along with a new credit card application, both of which need to be filled out. The guarantor must sign both forms. To expedite processing, Todd should mention on the top of the application that he has applied for credit previously and should return the application and supplemental form directly to you.

ENG 107

Compare & Contrast Essay Prompt:  Marjane, Malala, & Ta-Nehisi

Assignment:  Marjane Satrapi grew up in Iran in the 70s and 80s, during the Islamic Revolution.  Malala Yousafzai grew up in Pakistan in the early 2000s.  Ta-Nehisi Coates grew up in Baltimore, coming of age in the late 80s / early 90s, during the crack epidemic.  All three of them had educated parents (or at least one educated parent), all three encountered violence and extremist world views at a young age, yet they are all very different people.  This assignment is asking you to analyze their similarities and differences, as well as to explore the similarities and differences of the social and political circumstances they grew up with, and the role that education played in all three of their lives.

Some questions you may want to ask yourself as you work on this assignment:  Did they grow up with privilege and/or wealth?  All of them are rebellious people, but in what ways are their rebellious natures different?  In what ways are they the same?  What, if any, are the social, political, and religious similarities of their childhoods?  How important was education to their development as people?  Did they embrace education or struggle with it (or both)?  Would they return to their homes if they could, or are they happier living in their current respective cities?  What other important questions can you think of when comparing and contrasting these three significantly different people?

Requirements: 1,000-1,500 words, plus a Works Cited page. No less than five (5) sources, three of which MUST be The Complete Persepolis, He Named Me Malala, and Between the World and Me, plus two additional sources, both of which MUST be academic. Your essay MUST examine ALL of the following: Marjane Satrapi, Malala Yousafzai, and Ta-Nehisi Coates The social and political circumstances in their stories The role that education played in all of their lives Essay must be written in a formal, academic (third person) tone. This essay must have college level grammar, spelling, and punctuation, and should avoid any awkward phrasing. This essay should have nearly flawless MLA formatting, including font, margins, page numbers, in-text citations, and the Works Cited page.  Please use the Purdue OWL web site for correct formatting. When submitting this essay online, it MUST be submitted in either DOCX or PDF format.  There will be a small point deduction for submitting essays in any other format.

The successful paper will do the following: Focus on the topic provided with adequate examples/examination of this topic Provide evidence (quotes) that demonstrate the theme/topic you’re analyzing Demonstrate critical thinking, reading, and writing skills by making sound claims and supporting them with evidence in an organized and logical manner Include a well-defined thesis statement in the introduction Have well organized body paragraphs that stick to the structure discussed in class (Topic Statement, Context, Evidence, Analysis, and Transition) Come to a conclusion that moves beyond summary

Please Do NOT: Use this essay to discuss the qualities of any specific religion or faith. Use quotes that are longer than 4 lines – No Block Quotes Please.

Advocating For The Nursing Role

Advocating for the nursing role in program Design and implementation

As their names imply, the honeyguide bird and the honey badger both share an affinity for honey. Honeyguide birds specialize in finding beehives but struggle to access the honey within. Honey badgers are well-equipped to raid beehives but cannot always find them. However, these two honey-loving species have learned to collaborate on an effective means to meet their objectives. The honeyguide bird guides honey badgers to newly discovered hives. Once the honey badger has ransacked the hive, the honey guide bird safely enters to enjoy the leftover honey.

Much like honeyguide birds and honey badgers, nurses and health professionals from other specialty areas can—and should—collaborate to design effective programs. Nurses bring specialties to the table that make them natural partners to professionals with different specialties. When nurses take the requisite leadership in becoming involved throughout the healthcare system, these partnerships can better design and deliver highly effective programs that meet objectives.

In this Assignment, you will practice this type of leadership by advocating for a healthcare program. Equally as important, you will advocate for a collaborative role of the nurse in the design and implementation of this program. To do this, assume you are preparing to be interviewed by a professional organization/publication regarding your thoughts on the role of the nurse in the design and implementation of new healthcare programs.

To Prepare: Review the Resources and reflect on your thinking regarding the role of the nurse in the design and implementation of new healthcare programs. Select a healthcare program within your practice and consider the design and implementation of this program. Reflect on advocacy efforts and the role of the nurse in relation to healthcare program design and implementation.

The Assignment: (2–3 pages)

In a 2- to 3-page paper, create an interview transcript of your responses to the following interview questions: Tell us about a healthcare program, within your practice. What are the costs and projected outcomes of this program? Who is your target population? What is the role of the nurse in providing input for the design of this healthcare program? Can you provide examples? What is your role as an advocate for your target population for this healthcare program? Do you have input into design decisions? How else do you impact design? What is the role of the nurse in healthcare program implementation? How does this role vary between design and implementation of healthcare programs? Can you provide examples? Who are the members of a healthcare team that you believe are most needed to implement a program? Can you explain why?
